Programming
Since the Start

Steve started on his father's Commodore computers in the early 1980s. By high school he was writing curriculum material on artificial intelligence. At 19 he self-published it. Took out a loan, made sales, distributed 400 copies to schools. That was the first venture.

RAD, AITX,
and the Public Markets

Steve founded RAD in 2016 after encountering hardware capable of autonomous human detection. Raised $500K from family and friends. AITX went public via reverse merger in 2017. In 2021 he relocated the family to Detroit to build at scale. The company now operates 1,000+ units deployed worldwide.

How He Operates

CEO & CTO.
Both Roles.

As founder, Steve's involvement is function-dependent. Sales runs through Troy. Manufacturing is a self-sufficient team largely hired from Michigan's automotive sector. Technology and product decisions remain closely held. The founding technical vision and the company direction have to stay coupled.

“The buck stops with me. I stay involved until I feel the mission is being handled well — then I back out.”

“That vision, autonomous devices performing human work everywhere, was considered fringe when I first articulated it. It is now mainstream.
